| Network of National ITS Associations Platform launched in London.

Research and development of ITS technologies in Europe was given a boost at the launch on Thursday of the Network of National ITS Associations Platforms.
Hosted by ITS United Kingdom, a meeting in London of representatives of 13 national Intelligent Transport Societies, was told that the new organisation was intended to provide a fresh impetus to the promotion and support of European ITS technologies.
ERTICO's Chief Executive Olivier Mossé said that the role of the three regional IT Societies (ITS America, ITS Japan and ITS ETRICO) were changing and there had to be a recognition of this if they were to continue to play a meangful role in the development of future technologies. For its part, ERTICO was undergoing a series of strategic changes, the results of which would be felt shortly.
ERTICO's twin roles, said Mossé, were to assist in the development of new ideas and to help with their subsequent deployment. This process would be considerably helped by the new Association, the first real test of which would come with the 2006 World Congress in London. National groups were invited to offer such assistance as they were able.
